In January 2021 Yeti was challenged with a pretty tough brief. We needed to develop an entry mat manufactured from 100% brushed stainless steel which was slip resistant. We took on the challenge and developed a number of concepts using existing materials which were brought to site and reviewed with the client. It was established quickly that this project needed an outside of the box solution, existing products on the market couldnt acheive the project objectives. Basically existing slip resistant stainless steel products are designed for drainage applications and have integrated spacings between top bars to allow water to flow. In this situation we needed a solid plate to block out water and also feature a slip resistant mechanical surface.
The overall aesthetics of the entry mat was particularly important in this case as the entire cladding of the building was already in the same brushed stainless material and maintaining uniformity in the entry mat was of high importance to the designer and the end client.

Utilising our experience in product development and testing to Australian standards we developed a new, unique product which our client was rapt with. We performed rapid prototyping to quickly get our new product into the lab for testing to acheive ATTAR certification for slip testing. Once certification was acheived we were able to put our new product into production. We successfully managed the production process with a great deal of care and attention to detail, ensuring that our end product exceeded the high quality expectations of our client.
